Born in UP, grew up in the foothills of Himalayas spending his early childhood in and around Dehradun, Haridwar and Rishikesh. He did his Bachelor of Engineering from IIT, Roorkee. He went on to do his MBA through the National Management Programme of Government of India, after joining the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) through the Civil Services Examination of 1982.

Although trained as a Civil Engineer, he found himself to be temperamentally misfit in the work culture of the Civil Engineering departments. Hence, he switched over to Civil Services. He retired as the Principal Chief Commercial Manager of Southern Railway.

With a restless - but curious mind, he would visit holy towns of Haridwar and Rishikesh often during his IIT days, and meet as many Masters as he could - discussing the wonder of ‘Creation’ as he perceived it. Having been exposed to all the major religions of India - right from his early childhood with equal openness and intensity, he has picked up the best and the most relevant from the Core of all the religions and assimilated it as what he calls ‘Applied Spirituality’. His capsule on Spirituality – termed as ‘Applied Spirituality for Pentium Generation’, is for the youngsters - worldly men and women, and consists of ‘Tips and Clues’, for maintaining one’s purity while living normal life of householders in this big bad world - as against the hobby, easy option and status symbol of pursuing ‘Abstract Spirituality’ - suitable for the recluses living safely in Himalayas - away from the problems and temptations of the real world. His first major Spiritual breakthrough came in 1980 - during his posting as DC, Karaikal with Pondicherry government. As a curious visitor to almost all the major sacred places of various religions of India, it was in Pondicherry, that he came in touch with Sri Aurobindo Ashram and Sri Aurobindo’s philosophy and got glimpses of what now he terms as ‘Technology of Spirituality’. According to him Sri Aurobindo was the first and the only Rishi who has dealt with the dimensions of Spirituality as a ‘Software’ Operating behind the Creation, and that Vedas are the ‘Software Manuals’. He believes that Spirituality is the ‘Information Technology’ (IT) of the subtle world, and that the ‘Internet is the greatest Spiritual discovery of last Century’. He also advocates that Vedas are the software manuals for the IT of the subtle dimensions and that ancient Indian Wisdom has access to the ‘Source Code’.

He is of the firm opinion and belief, that if a team of spiritually enabled Software engineers, is formed along with Spiritually awakened Indians, humanity will succeed in deciphering most of the secrets of the spiritual realm. He is convinced that the Humanity is on the verge of witnessing an orbital shift in its perception and discovering a phenomenon - as drastic as discovery of the phenomenon of Gravitation. And that, Spirituality will be taught in class rooms - like Physics and Chemistry, in not too distant a future. Connected to almost all the major Spiritual organizations in the country, he has met and continues to be in touch with many realized Masters, and has had many miraculous spiritual experiences, in his own life. He believes that nothing short of complete transformation of humanity by way of upgrading the very Operating System of Humanity, will help take it to its next higher orbit in the process of evolution.

Known as 'Sharanagat Ajeet' in Spiritual circles, he is a regular speaker on Spirituality. In the year 2010, while he was in the US - on an invitation to IVLP programme of the Department of State of US government, he was invited to deliver talks on ‘Applied Spirituality’ and ‘Technology of Spirituality’ by major Spiritual institutions - including the Brahma Kumaris, in various cities of the USA. That series of his lectures has resulted into a book authored by him - called ‘अहंब्रह्मास्मि’ – ‘When Node becomes the Server’.

He has under taken a crusade for creating awareness on ‘Interfaith Cooperation for Peace and Nation Building’ by addressing children and youth. He vehemently advocates, that the moment we start living - as against just existing - in an ‘Impersonal, Alert, Attentive, Awareness’ of anything and everything, that happens around us, the ‘Secrets of Creation’ start melting away and we begin to perceive ‘The Reality’ as it Is.

Moved by the plight of farmers’ suicides in Vidarbha, as his own individual initiative, he has adopted and is foster father to a large number of children of suicide farmers in Vidarbha. He operates from Sewagram Ashram of Gandhi Ji and is handholding and mentoring around 200 such children of farmers. A number of girls from amongst these children, have completed their professional courses like Yoga therapists, nursing, teachers training, and other graduate courses and are gainfully employed.

He believes that merely ‘व्यवस्था परिवर्तन’ will not change anything and that nothing short of upgrading the very ‘Operating System’ - of the citizens and humanity as a whole, will change the prevalent situation of conflict, chaos and humans operating in ‘Animal Mode’. Therefore, he has conceptualised and is working on a project called 'भारत पुनरुत्थान मिशन'- where by, a complete transformation and regeneration of India and Indians – through Spiritual inputs, is the goal. He believes that India’s Ancient Spiritual Wisdom and Heritage, which is India’s ‘Core Competence’. is the only hope for future of humans and humanity.

Surrendered at the feet of his Master - Maha Avataar Baba Ji, he has downloaded and developed an inspiration from his Master, into an implementable concept - linking Man’s Spiritual Level to livelihood and progress in life and named it as “Corporate Spiritual Responsibility”. This concept, which involves measuring man’s Spiritual level by what he calls - ‘Spiritual MRI’ and ‘Spiritual Lipid Profile’, amounts to a paradigm shift in Management Practices from ‘Jargon’ to जागरण’.

Inspired by his zeal and commitment and long term utility of the concept in upgrading the current world view from a ‘Material world view’ to an ‘Enlightened World view’, the S-VYASA University of Bangalore established the first ever Centre for Corporate Spiritual Responsibility (CCSpR), as part of their department of Management education. The CCSpR was inaugurated in Bangalore on 12th January 2014 in the presence of Spiritual luminaries from across the world and representatives of the ‘Enlightened Enterprises’. A number of ‘Conscious Corporates’ have come forward to start Pilot projects to implement this novel concept of this holistic philosophy of Management - linking and fine tuning Corporate goals to larger goals of humanity. Another such centre has been set up by the Indus Business Academy, Bangalore in October 2019. Currently, he writes a weekly spiritual column - every Thursday under the pen name शरणागत अजीत , titled ‘Applied Spirituality for Pentium Generation’, on a portal called India Ground Report.

He is leading a core team of youngsters to resurrect spirit of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose for future generations. He is also working to resurrect ancient Indian Wisdom in the field of medicine by way of a joint effort by the top allopathic doctors, energy medicine practitioners and some remarkable Ayurvedic doctors to setup ‘Integrated Medicine Centres’.

He is also coordinating networking of likeminded individuals and organizations, to create a Nationwide Network of ‘गौसेवा’ and ‘गौपालकs’ - bringing them on one platform through IT.

Currently staying in Kolkata, he lives by the following four principles – which he calls the ‘यम- नियम’ App. and which have been, as a consistent feature, on his visiting card for last 25 years:
• भोगना भी नहीं है, भागना भी नहीं है!
• जो मेरे राम का नहीं है, वो मेरे काम का नहीं है!
• पाप में भागीदार, माँ बाप के भी नहीं बनना है!
• ईश्वर के यहाँ ‘डॉलर’ भी नहीं चलता है!
